The Indian cricket team takes a big blow ahead of the Cricket World Cup 2023 Semi-finals. The all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been ruled out of the tournament due to an ankle injury caused while fielding off his own bowling during the India vs Bangladesh match on 19 October.
Having damaged his ankle, the International Cricket Council (ICC) on 4 November announced that pacer Prasidh Krishna will take Hardik Pandya’s place for the remaining part of the tournament.
The all-rounder took up Instagram to write an emotional note about the fact that he is out of the World Cup. Hardik Pandya wrote, “Tough to digest the fact that I will miss out on the remaining part of the World Cup. I’ll be with the team, in spirit, cheering them on every ball of every game. Thanks for all the wishes, the love, and the support has been incredible. This team is special and I’m sure we’ll make everyone proud. Love, always, HP.”
Although India has not been hurt since his exit during the Bangladesh match Mohammed Shami doing an outstanding job with the ball.
Prasidh Krishna, who has 29 wickets in 17 One Day Innings (ODI), has played for India in two ODIs against Australia during a series just before the World Cup. During the matches, he took three wickets in those games.
With eight consecutive wins, India has become the first team to qualify for the semi-finals following their significant win against Sri Lanka in Mumbai and their recent win against South Africa in Kolkata. India has another match scheduled on 12 November against the Netherlands that is said to be played at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram.
