Gujarat Titans (GT) have officially announced Shubman Gill as their new captain for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season, following the departure of Hardik Pandya, the victorious captain of IPL 2022, who has returned to the Mumbai Indians (MI). Despite having experienced options like Kane Williamson and Rashid Khan, the franchise has placed their trust in the emerging talent of Gill, projecting him as the next big sensation in Indian cricket.

Having made his IPL debut in 2018 after a stellar Under-19 campaign led by Prithvi Shaw, the 24-year-old Gill has consistently delivered for both his club and the national team. His standout performance in the IPL 2023 season, amassing 890 runs in 17 appearances, solidified his reputation in the T20 format.
As Gill takes on the captaincy role, only time will reveal the impact he will have as the leader of the Titans. With the highest budget of INR 38.15 crore, the Titans still have room for squad improvement, and all eyes will be on the IPL auction scheduled for December 19 in Dubai.
