Director Apoorv Singh Karki, known for his work in “Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai” and “Aspirants,” shares insights into his filmmaking journey and future plans. Despite the success of his recent film, Karki emphasises that success has not changed his perspective. While acknowledging that success adds pressure and raises expectations, he remains focused on finding good scripts, considering a well-developed subject as half the battle won.
Karki recently completed shooting his second film, “Bhaiyaaji,” in Lucknow, featuring actor Manoj Bajpayee. Reflecting on his approach to filmmaking, Karki expresses a desire to explore various genres, except horror. He states, “I want to try every genre, except horror.” Despite receiving offers for courtroom dramas, he aims to avoid repetition and is open to exploring new and diverse storytelling.
Regarding his collaboration with the same team from his previous project, Karki explains that actor Manoj Bajpayee shared the story during the shoot of “Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai.” Intrigued by Bajpayee’s story, Karki collaborated with the team to create “Bhaiyyaji,” a revenge drama with commercial appeal.
Karki also reflects on the release of the second season of his popular series “Aspirants.” He considers the second season a bigger challenge but expresses satisfaction when the audience appreciates their work. He acknowledges the support and influence of his father, who introduced him to films during his childhood in Nainital.
Sharing his backstory, Karki reveals that his father’s encouragement and advice motivated him to pursue a career in filmmaking. He moved to Mumbai in 2009, faced challenges, and returned to Delhi, where he joined TVF. Despite initial struggles, his involvement in projects like “Aam Admi Family” and “Aspirants” marked a turning point in his career.
Looking ahead, Karki plans to start with another film and has a web-series in collaboration with director Sameer Saxena. He emphasises his commitment to exploring diverse storytelling and learning from his experiences in the industry.
