In a surprising turn of events, Albert Kabo Lepcha from Kalimpong, West Bengal, emerged as the winner of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa 2023, despite his initial reluctance to participate. In an exclusive interview with Pinkvilla, Albert revealed that he owes his victory to his wife, Pooja, who played a pivotal role in encouraging him to join the singing competition.
Albert shared, “I would like to credit my win to my wife who has been instrumental in pushing me to do the show. My wife Pooja and I lost our nine-month-old baby a few months back. We both were disheartened by the loss. I wanted to not do anything in terms of singing for a while; however, Pooja told me about the auditions and pushed me to take it up. I remember telling her that I wouldn’t be able to perform after the loss that we faced. Pooja told me that I’ll have to do it for our daughter, and that’s when I agreed.”

Despite lacking formal music training, Albert’s exceptional talent shone throughout the competition, ultimately securing him the winner’s title and a cash prize of 15 lakh rupees. Reflecting on his unexpected victory, Albert expressed, “Honestly, I haven’t thought about it much, but I think I’ll use the money to enhance my singing skills since I’ve not taken formal training. I might open a studio. Also, I wish to contribute some money to my house because I was never able to do so before.”
The Sa Re Ga Ma Pa 2023 finale was a star-studded event featuring yesteryear popular actors like Govinda, Sunita Ahuja, and Aruna Irani. Govinda, known for his charismatic performances, added to the entertainment by both dancing and singing during the show. Hosting duties were shared by the dynamic duo of Haarsh Limbachaya and Aditya Narayan, making the finale a memorable musical extravaganza.
