This Friday brings an exciting clash in the Bollywood arena as Vicky Kaushal headlines the biographical war drama “Sam Bahadur,” while Ranbir Kapoor unveils the highly anticipated crime thriller “Animal.” Addressing the simultaneous release of both films, Vicky Kaushal, in a conversation with the Indian Express, used a cricket analogy to emphasize the collective goal of promoting Hindi cinema.
Vicky likened the situation to two opening batsmen on the same cricket team, stating that they are not in competition but rather playing for a common cause—Hindi cinema. He expressed, “When two opening batsmen come to the crease, playing for the same team, you won’t say that the two batsmen are clashing with each other; they are playing for a single team, so we are playing for Hindi cinema.”
Further delving into the analogy, Vicky explained that, akin to cricket, where one player may focus on big hits while the other strategically accumulates singles to maintain the strike, both approaches are essential. When asked which film would hit boundaries and which would focus on singles, Vicky left it to the audience to decide, stating, “The audience will decide.”
Regarding “Sam Bahadur,” the film, directed by Meghna Gulzar, showcases Vicky Kaushal portraying India’s first Field Marshal, Sam Manekshaw, against the backdrop of the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971. Sanya Malhotra and Fatima Sana Shaikh play significant roles as Sam’s wife and former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, respectively.
As for “Animal,” directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, the movie explores the intricate dynamics of a toxic father-son relationship. The star-studded cast includes Ranbir Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor, Triptii Dimri, and Bobby Deol.
Both “Sam Bahadur” and “Animal” are scheduled for a silver screen showdown on December 1.
